Democracy through Citizenship

PROJECT OBJECTIVES:

The objectives of the project are as follows:

- To foster a democratic culture on university campuses by instructing university students on citizenship and participation in public life.

- To spread the culture of civic participation and encourage the youth to monitor the performance of public institutions.

- To facilitate a dialogue on good governance between youth and government representatives, and enable the youth to be a part of the decision-making process on the local level.

- To further democratization in Lebanon through the generation of knowledge, the creation of research capacity, the stimulation of policy reassessment and of citizen participation, the engagement of youth in understanding and practicing democracy for the development of a truly democratic and stable citizen state.

- To reconnect citizens – mainly the youth - to their communities and institutions to become more actively involved in addressing their common problems and enhancing the political process
